Our Logo

The central focus of our logo is a banyan tree due to the imagery of its growth and expansion. Banyan trees begin life with a single trunk; over time, aerial roots grow down from its spreading limbs and take root. These roots enlarge, eventually becoming trunk-like, and in old age a single tree may have the appearance of a small forest.

Our vision for Amherst Baptist Church is that we too would expand and grow, not into a single, massive "mega-church" trunk, but by carefully and cautiously sending out feelers into well-prepared soil that will grow into healthy new trunks - distinguishable yet interdependent - an ever-growing, interconnected body of Christ.

We believe that our church will continue to grow right here in Willow Ridge but we also recognize that such growth is necessarily constrained. This is why our Mission statement includes the idea of remaining "locally focused" but also of planting new churches and supporting local churches so that our growth can strengthen other "trunks." This growth can literally continue around the world because our God is "able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine." (Ephesians 3:20)
